Abstract:
English Abstract:
In Jinan area, 277 serum samples from healthy persons of different ages were tested by ELISA for the presence of Rotarirus (RV) antibody. The positive rate gradually increases (83.8-100%) with age from 1 year to adulthood. The rate is the lowest (51.5%) in the 6 months-1 year age group and 53.0%in the group of less than 6 months. Eighty-two of the 277 samples were determined both by ELISA and complement fixation test (CFT). In ELISA the positivity of RV antibody was 92.68% and its GMT was 894.6. In CFT the positivity was 79.27% and GMT was 8.136. The concordance rate of the two methods was 90.24%. The correlation coefficient (r) was +0.67. However, the titer of RV antibody in the sera determined by ELISA was 110 times higher than that by CFT. It means that ELISA is more sensitive than CFT. The result of blocking test further confirmed the specificity of ELISA method. Therefore, it is a simple rapid and reliable method to be used in clinical diagnosis and epidimiologic investigation of RV infection.
